Dear Friends,

Do you remember what was happening in 1970?

Believe it or not -

• The Kansas City Chiefs won the SuperBowl!
• Richard Nixon was President
• Gasoline was $.36 a gallon
• 18 year-olds were given the right to vote

1970 was also the year Wichita celebrated its centennial with the Wichitennial River Festival. That celebration let to what has become our community’s signature event, Riverfest.

Our world has changed a lot since 1970 and so has Riverfest. From a two-day event with a budget of $10,000, Riverfest now generates an economic impact
of more than $20 million annually. But more important, it creates pride in our
City and brings people together for nine days of fun and activity.

Funding for Riverfest events comes from three primary sources: corporate sponsorships, event entry fees and charitable contributions. The sale of Riverfest buttons and revenue from the food court off-set the promotional and advertising expenses of the Festival as well as administrative overhead.

In order for us to keep the Festival growing and provide great entertainment,
we need broader support from the community, not just from sponsors, but from people like you and me who enjoy the fun the Festival brings and believe it’s important to our quality of life.

That’s why we developed the Festival Crew program. It’s a way you can help through a tax deductible contribution. In exchange for your gift, you can receive free buttons, reserved parking and a host of other ways to enjoy the Festival up close. Check out the benefits and see how you can enjoy the fun and help at the same time. Thanks in advance for your support.

Fondly,

Janet Wright
